Display bases by Louis Armour
- Rule of thumb - bases should be 2-3" bigger than the model.
- Lacquer both sides of wooden bases to prevent warpage.
- 'Marble' paint and fleck stone paint can be very effective.
- Cardboard and foam core for creating elevation change, vertical elements, etc.
- Use of a base and backboard can enhance appearance.
- Mudrock for texture and building up mass.
- A good way to mix celluclay - put a small piece in a zip lock bag with coloring and water and knead in the bag.
- Old plaques and frames can be good bases.
- Can be bought very cheaply.
- Odd elements for things like the 20000 Leagues base....
